Coronary Heart Disease Subspecialty

The coronary heart disease subspecialty has its own characteristics and takes a leading position in China and internationally in the aspects of intracoronary imaging technologies (intravascular ultrasonography and optical coherence tomography), complex coronary intervention technologies (left main coronary artery, bifurcation, bypass graft, and chronic occlusion), coronary plaque ablation technologies (rotational atherectomy and laser atherectomy), and full event chain protection and intervention of acute coronary syndrome.

It has undertaken numerous national scientific research projects, including key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation. It is one of the earliest training centers for coronary heart disease intervention and management of the Ministry of Health, and one of the earliest cardiac intervention training bases of China’s “Belt and Road Initiative.”

In addition to students from all over the country, it also receives cardiac intervention specialists from the “Belt and Road Initiative” countries for training.

The subspecialty has four chief physicians, two associate chief physicians, two doctoral supervisors, and two professors from Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine (including one Class II professor). The subspecialty focuses on coronary artery obstructive diseases, actively developing various new technologies, improving service capabilities, strengthening service concepts, and providing domestically first-class and internationally advanced medical services while being patient centric.
